Tank-Ha Dive Center's High Standards

Since 2001, the Secretaría de Turismo has been doing inspections of dive centers in the Riviera Maya in order to find which dive shops respect the safety and quality parameters established by NOM-05 (Norma Oficial Mexicana), which regulates diving activities in Mexico.

Following these inspections, the government issued a certificate to each dive shop which met or exceeded these standards. In the Playa del Carmen they issued only a few certificates, including one to Tank-Ha Dive Center. Tank-Ha Dive Center was one of the first dive shops in Playa del Carmen to receive this honor.

The Secretaría de Turismo recommends diving only with dive centers which received this certificate. The Mexican government is preparing a brochure explaining the certificates to distribute to tourists flying into Cancun's airport, and publishing a directory with information only for these qualified dive centers.
